Yoga Junction’s own Carey Yonto spoke with me about her journey into small business ownership.
Who: Carey Yonto and Melissa Williams are co-owners of Yoga Junction.
What: An awesome, community-focused yoga studio featuring classes for all ages and skill levels.
When: Carey and Melissa took over the studio almost four years ago and transformed the space to fit their vision for Yoga Junction. Prior to ownership, they both taught for the previous owner.
Why: Carey and Melissa share a passion for exercise and healthy living. They saw a need for a yoga studio that would make yoga accessible and affordable to a larger group of people. As mothers, the women strive to maintain work/life balance and business ownership allows them the freedom and flexibility to focus on their families while building a successful company. The yoga studio concept allows for them to utilize independent contractors, so that they can work from home when they’re not teaching classes. They currently have five office yogis who trade their skills for yoga. (Sounds like a win-win!)
How: Both women earned degrees in exercise science and have taught yoga for 10 years. They met while teaching yoga in Louisville, Colorado and felt the town was the perfect place to open a studio of their own, with a fresh approach to sharing the age-old practice.
